What Exactly Does Brake Fluid Do?
As car owners, we know that every once in a while we need to check that brake fluid and sometimes replace it. But what exactly is brake fluid and what does it do? What’s its purpose and why is it important to the functioning of your car? Read on to find out.
It’s not a surprise to know that without brake fluid, your car wouldn’t be able to brake, no matter how hard you put the foot to the pedal. The hydraulic fuel in the brake system is actually in charge of aiding the entire movement of the breaking system.
Once you put your foot to the pedal, it creates a pressure using brake fluid in the master cylinder. This pressurized fluid moves to the wheel cylinder where supplied energy is then applied to the break pistons. This in turn applies pressure to the brake shoes–and now your car is braking!
